Highland Perthshire Trail Cam Capture

Grainy but compelling infrared data captured deep within the Tay Forest Park.

In late 2019, a wildlife enthusiast monitoring pine marten activity in the Tay Forest Park recovered a sequence of infrared images showing a high-shouldered feline crossing a logging track at 02:14 AM.

  • Identification: Tentative Cait Sìth (Type II)

The creature displayed a low-slung hunting gait and a tail significantly longer than a standard domestic cat. Morphological analysis suggests the animal stood approximately 45cm at the shoulder. Similar reports from Strathtay suggest this individual may be localized to the wooded slopes bordering the River Tay.
